Western Mosquitofish, Gambusia affinis, Females: 7 cm / 2.8 in; Males: 4 cm / 1.8 in. The name "mosquitofish" is derived because they eat mosquito larva, a small portion of their diet. Used as a bio-control to lower mosquito populations through introduction into waterways and aquatic habitats. This practice has resulted in them being labeled a noxious pest in some areas because they out compete native species for other aquatic prey.

Sweetwater Wetlands, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA.
