Female Ruddy Duck, Oxyura jamaicensis, 15 in / 38.1 cm. COMMON, especially in the West. Found on open water of ponds, lakes and sheltered bays.

Male Smew, Mergellus albellus, 15 - 17 in. / 38 - 44 cm. Very RARE visitor to western Alaska. A very distinctive small merganser. The only surviving member of its genus.

Ross's Goose, Anser rossii, Chen Rossi, 23 in. Among a small flock of 10 grazing in the agricultural fields. Locally COMMON on wintering areas, elsewhere UNCOMMON and RARE.
