Long-billed Curlew, Numenius americanus, 23 in. / 58.42 cm. Generally UNCOMMON. Winters in marshes, fields, lawns and beaches. Nests on relatively arid short-grass prairie not necessarily near water.

Reddish Egret, Egretta rufescens, 30 in. / 76.2 cm. UNCOMMON. Nests in mixed specie colonies on islands or in low shrubs in standing water. Forages on expanses of shallow water such as on broad tidal flats. Finishing off a turbot. Handheld.

Immature Black-necked Stilt (Black-necked), Himantopus mexicanus mexicanus, 14 in. / 35.56 cm. COMMON but somewhat local on shallow still ponds with muddy bottoms and grassy edges. Nests along edges of shallow weedy ponds. Photographed in July 2006.
