Red-naped Sapsucker, Sphyrapicus nuchalis, 8.5 in. / 21.6 cm. UNCOMMON in aspen groves in mountains, slap in coniferous forests where aspens are intermixed. During migration and winter found in lowland riparian and suburban habitats. Photographed in October 2006.
