Great Plains Toad, Anaxyrus cognatus, 2.2 - 5 in / 5.6 - 12.7 cm. Valleys, mesas and flats of Sonoran, Chihuahuan or Great Basin Desert scrub, grasslands and sparsely into montane woodland. You can see the spur on the hind foot as it is beginning to excavate a burrow (the temporal pool is drying out).
