White-crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia leugophrys oriantha, 17.78 cm. / 7 in. COMMON. Nests in brushy patches surround by open habitat, such as tundra, alpine meadows, or floodplain or in chaparral. Winters in weedy or brushy areas in flocks. Photographed in January 2008.
