Description: In 2019 we spent part of our parental leave in South Tyrol in the Dolomites, more precisely in the picturesque Villnöß.
From the large balcony of our apartment we had a unique view of the high mountain ranges of the Geisler group. For me it was fascinating to see how the view of the Geisler Group changed almost every hour with the change in weather.
Although it was already June and the meadows were in bloom, the mountain range was still covered with snow and provided this unique sight and contrast between summer and winter.
One early morning I made the short walk to this famous lookout point to try my luck for a good photo.

Description:
At the end of January I finally made it to the Wernersberg to the Geiersteine, after it had not worked in the autumn of last year because of the bad weather. It should be with minus 12 degrees a very cold, but sunny Sunday morning and so I made myself shortly after 6 clock on the way into the Pfälzerwald.
Since I knew the Geiersteine so far only from hiking in the form of a circular route, the first rise of the nearest parking lot which I found before via Google Maps was once again "adventurous". Through the bare, wintry forest I could hardly distinguish at the beginning of the ascent in the dark despite the torch, whether I was actually still on a path or simply cross-country run. And I have to confess that it is a strange feeling to be alone in the dark in the forest and to perceive this silence and thus individual noises quite differently. ;)
After a brief orientation phase and a 30-minute climb I reached the Geiersteine in time before sunrise and was rewarded with a great view. Now it was "only" necessary to quickly build the camera and find a suitable composition ..... but I had made the bill without the cold.
A tripod leg could not be fully extended and so I was restricted in the composition. The next dilemma was the first of four full batteries (which I wore in woolen socks wrapped up on the body), which was already discharged after about 15 pictures because of the cold. This may be quite complicated today, I thought to myself. My ice cold fingers, which I regularly had to get out of the gloves, to adjust the camera and rebuild the tripod, were still the slightest evil.
Because of the adverse circumstances, the cloudless sky and the associated unspectacular sunrise, my disappointment was initially great. But in the golden hour, the light was just fantastic and I could go home with a few good shots on my memory card.
//
