Wat Arun in Bangkok and is locally known as Wat Chaeng and is a landmark temple on the west (Thonburi) bank of the Chao Phraya river. It’s easily one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, not only because of its riverside location but also because the design is very different from the other temples you can visit in the Thai capital. Wat Arun (nicknamed the 'Temple of Dawn') is partly made up of colourfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water.

"Wat Arun is best known for its massive prang, a tower on the Chao Phra river bank built in Khmer architectural style. The prang with its height of more than 80 meters is the highest in Thailand. The Wat Arun is one of only six temples of the highest grade of the first class Royal Temples, and therefore one of Thailand’s most revered temples." ref Renown Travel.
