Ta Phin, Sapa, Vietnam. This woman appeared shrouded in mist, almost ghost-like and just as silently disappeared before our eyes. Surreal.

This Abbey in Ta Phin dates back to 1942. Called the Virgin of Peace Monastery it was abandoned by the nuns in 1947 due to the unstable political climate of the time. Care must be taken when visiting the site in cloudy conditions as visibility can be very poor. A bride and groom arrived with their own camera crew so I was moving off to give them space but she waved me back and posed for a few shots, completely impromptu but typical of the open friendliness I experienced in my travels in the region.
