The annual 'Uluru Camel Cup' held in the Northern Territory in almost the dead centre of mainland Australia. Uluru is a very big rock visible here 20 plus kilometers away under the neck of the racing camel. It is pink in this shot but changes shades as the sun moves about. The jockeys were about 50/50 males to females but the ladies have the lower weight advantage and being excellent riders it was no surprise they won several of the races. The day includes a lot of other social activities and is a lot of fun and that is the real objective. The skinny trees in the shot are known as 'desert oaks' (Casuarina's).
