A few days ago I made an impromptu visit to a shoreline near my home that various shorebirds tend to hang out. I left right after supper as the evening sun was being muted by what I can only assume are the crazy forest fires happening in the world right now. I spent the majority of my time with a group of Semipalmated Plovers and was about to wrap things up when behind me I noticed three Sanderling feed along the near by kelp bed. I have probably only seen a handful of Sanderling in my lifetime so I was very excited at the opportunity to try and photograph one. After a stealthy belly crawl up the shoreline to their location I was treated to very close looks at one individual and captured this contrasty image against the kelp. Of course I wish I could have gotten more creative with my shots but for my first ever Sanderling image I will take it.
