A beautiful cherry red Tiger Moth - glowing in the early evening sun on a June day. It was this pilot's first public display, and a fine job he did too, at the 2024 Sywell Air Show.
The de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth is a basic training aircraft produced in large numbers before and during WW2.
Note that when flown by a single pilot, the rear cockpit is used, to maintain the balance of the aircraft.
Around 8,000 Tiger Moths were built, serving with around 40 air arms around the world. It remains a popular light aircraft for private use, and more than 200 remain active to this day.
