Located in Hellertown Pennsylvania, in Lehigh Valley, are the historic Lost River Caverns that were discovered in 1883 by quarry workers who lit a black powder blast to remove Limestone and discovered this amazing cave that contains a literal slow flowing river that is fed by rainfall and snowmelt that continuously dissolves the limestone. When my damsel and I visited these amazing caverns, one of cool setups that the cave had was the blacklight room. Obviously being subterranean, the cave operators control the light and in this particular chamber the lighting is switched to long-wave blacklight. Long-wave blacklight causes certain minerals to fluoresce and that’s what’s captured in this image, some of the different minerals that fluoresce in light from long-wave blacklight.
