Photographed last summer in my backyard, Clarence-Rockland, Ontario. I am fortunate to have a couple of nesting pairs in the nearby woods. A young male and female would come to my nectar feeder with the male generally chasing the female away. I moved the nectar feeder and positioned it at the edge of a nearby Bee Balm in full bloom. With patience, I was able to capture several in-flight images.

I went on a family camping trip and luckily brought my camera. Above an adjacent campsite is a large stick nest, surprising close to the ground 12-15 feet up the tree. Within a few minutes we could hear the cries of the juveniles asking to be fed. The pair of juveniles have been probably out of the nest for a week now and are making small flights around the campground. Quite often, when things were quiet, they would perch very low to the ground providing some great opportunities to observe this usually very skittish raptor. Lighting conditions were very dark so I did use flash for fill in a few pics. Every morning, the little ones were tearing into frogs just above our campsite.

A Blue Jay poses briefly "nuthatch style" before taking flight. I positioned myself so that a red maple provided a brilliant autumn background. Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, Canada.

In my opinion, the call of the Common Loon is one of the most haunting and beautiful sounds of the eastern North American wilderness. Eagle Lake, Parham, Ontario.

A tripod, live view, two second timer, long exposure (for wildlife that is!) and a very cooperative Screech Owl helped to get this image. The light pink on the left side of the owl is actually the setting sun, which was not visible to me but was picked up by the one second exposure.
