We had a nice temperature inversion at the weekend but I had to wait a while for any light to penetrate the cloud canopy but it was worth waiting for.

A few days ago, conditions for sunset were looking promising. I had been meaning to captured this local field and asked the farmer for his permission to take some shots and fly the drone. He was more than happy, and I was glad I did, as it was a stunning sunset.
The Peaks from L>R are Ben Venue, Ben More & Stob Binnein and Ben Ledi.

I popped out down the road to a local field of Barley on Saturday. I did not anticipate such beautiful crepuscular rays just before sunset. It looked like a scene from an alien invasion movie!

I'm not usually a night owl at all but last night I could not sleep so I ventured out to see if the day's heavy clouds would break to reveal the predicted aurora. It was bitterly cold in the wind at 2am. Little did I know it was going to hit Kp8 in strength. It was huge and the cresent moon was just setting over The Trossachs. At the same time, my friend Neil Porter was messaging me wth a smilar display as far south as Dartmoor! I could not get it all in, even at 16mm, so I did a very speedy 3 shot panoramic.

This is what the aerial view was like from Saturday's sunrise I posted yesterday. As the wind picked up it started to create wonderful patterns and exposing the trees and rolling farmland. The crepusular rays were lovely.
