I couldn’t believe my luck to see a pair of Short-Eared Owls out the other night. I only had my 70-200 lens, which isn’t the best at tracking or lowlight, but luckily they flew very close for nearly 30 mins until the light disappeared. When I got back, I hadn’t realised it was also full moon and one shot perfectly aligned. (A stitch of 5 burst images).

A continuation of the rainbow week. I've been trying to capture one of my favourite trees with a rainbow emanating from Ben Lomond for a couple of years now. It needs to be around 9.30-10.30am, this time of year, to get it in the right place and low altitude enough to fit in frame. The other morning, I spent a couple of wet hours standing waiting but I wasn’t disappointed. I also flew the drone and captured the full rainbow just after. I think the farmer thinks I am mad seeing me standing there for hours on end LOL…

Excuse the radio silence but I had to go to Helsinki on business this week. I wasn’t intending on photographing a rainbow the other evening before I left, but as the unexpected heavy thundery shower passed the sun broke though near to sunset. I could not resist a rainbow but I had not expected a full and double rainbow! The drone was struggling in the high winds. These are so big at sunset that a std 24mm camera is not enough, so this is a 15 shot panoramic stitch. More rainbows from last week to come!

These two Oystercatchers return every year to my local lochan, but this year their usual nest, in a gatepost, has been understandably covered up to help them from being disturbed by the fishermen. When the return they often roost in the boats. This morning was a lovely pink sunrise and the waters were mirror flat. One male decided to try and win the affection of the female, just before I took this, but he was soon chased off!

I have been to The Loup of Fintry many many times but very little to show for it. The other evening, I took a punt. The river was in spate after so much rain, and just at the last minute, before the sun set, it broke through lighting the spray with some beautiful golden light!
