After suffering a stroke which left him without hearing and speech, and completely paralyzed one side of his body, Abbé Adolphe-Julien Fouré, a priest, spent the rest of his life as a hermit in the cliffs of Rotheneuf, and beginning in 1870, began carving hundreds of fascinating, grotesque, and bizarre shapes, faces, and figures into the rock. As our B&B was 5 minutes away we went to see them. Most of them are quite faded now but you can still pick out several figures within the rocks.

I hadn't found anything pastel and then these came to mind. I used to love them when I was a child. They had a bit of a fizz to them. All the giggles as you handed them out to friends and they got the 'kiss' or 'marry me', or 'be mine', I think we were only about 8 or 9 years old and had just started going all gooey over boys, A lifetime away when we were all a lot more innocent. I did eat one .............not going to eat another - lol

I took this photograph a few years ago whilst walking along the beach at Weston Super Mare. It told a story of a father taking his daughter paddling for the first time and her squeals of delight as the waves ran over her little feet
