This is one of the most exciting things I have ever done and I shall never forget it. We had an opportunity to feed two of the large cats at the Cat Sanctuary. The choice was a lion, tiger, cheetah or snow leopard. Only two of us chose the lion and we both said we were so glad that we did as it was an incredible experience more so than the other cats. Phill wasn't keen but in the end I coaxed him into feeding the snow leopard. I ended up feeding a tiger and a white tiger as well as Phill let me have his other turn. But the lion as you can see was the most awesome of them all and no I wasn't afraid just star struck:-) His name is Kasanga.

This is Willow a nine month old cheetah. She was born at a nearby zoo but broke her leg when she was only a few months old. She had to be nursed back to health and when she was fit enough, her mother rejected her so she was moved to the Big Cat Sanctuary to be looked after. She was not hand reared so it took the Director, Giles Clark, a lot of love and patience to get her to trust him. You can see it on the BBC programme below. Not a great photo but I hope you get the idea of just how far she has come and what good work this place does. It works really hard to ensure the safety of the 'big cats' by working with other like minded establishments throughout the world to ensure these breeds do not die out and also rescuing those who would otherwise not survive. It is shocking to hear the stats on some of these breeds for example amur leopards in the wild total less than 100.

Only joking. This is Petra a Eurasian Lynx. At the Big Cat Sanctuary, they believe in getting the animals to engage with life as much as they can in their protected environment. Petra's dinner is given to her in the bag so she can 'find' it and 'play' before eating it. One more in comments below

Whilst sitting eating breakfast this chap had a nose through the window to see what we were eating. You can see the reflection of our breakfast plates. Best full English I have ever had:-)
