I have just joined the group "It's the little things......." inspired by Bennilover who posts photos of the little things that make her happy throughout the year.

We are fortunate enough to live not too far from the coast and will often go walking along the beach. The little thing that makes me happy is watching a dog arrive at the beach and being let off its lead for the first time and then watching as it goes woosh at a 100 miles an hour, ears and tail flying in the wind - FREEDOM!

.............that sometimes keep you alive. Sounds rather dramatic I know but these little pills are steroids which, when you have asthma, can make all the difference to whether you breath or not. I rarely have to take them; in fact the last time I took them was 5 years ago. They are really tiny (they are sitting in a teaspoon so you get the idea. I had to take six in one go, once a day for five days last week when I was not well. So just a short, sharp dose was all that was required to get me back on track. Thank goodness I wasn't born before these were made - I would have been a goner back when I was 26 years old. It was the first attack I ever had and I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance, blue lights flashing, thinking I was definitely going to die as I could hardly draw a breath. Once in hospital I was Intravenously 'fed' steroids in huge doses and eventually after a week my airways cleared. The asthma had been brought on by dust caused by building work at the place I was then employed. Though I used to get very ill back then after I had first been diagnosed, I have never had another attack like it and I hope I never will. Just two puffs on my steroid spray morning and night and all is usually well. I love these little things:-)

..............like a bowl of steaming noodles. I absolutely love noodles but Phill hates them, so if I am on my own for lunch I will make myself a bowl and sit and slurp away on my own.

I love reading about social history through the actual books and magazines of those times. This book we found in a junk shop eons ago is a prime example. I had to buy it for this page alone: I mean, a boy likes a girl who gets up early to go fishing!?!? Boys and men hate scenes?!? No mention of what girls like - lol. We have an old good housekeeping book from the Victorian period and one whole chapter is dedicated on how to deal with your servants. Different times, different times.

A perfect boiled egg for breakfast is one of the little things that pleases me at the start of the working day, along with a slice of wholemeal toast. I buy large free range eggs and it has to be boiled for 8 minutes for it to be just right for me. I hate runny whites in an egg so boiling for 8 minutes leaves just enough runniness in the yolk but not in the white part. I am so fussy about this that I would never have an egg or anything made with an egg (e.g.omelette, scrambled eggs, quiche) when eating out as I couldn't bear to find it to be runny.

PS The eggcup was a gift from Phill
