I'm posting this one because for me it encompasses all of the Peak District - Green, green hills, sheep and lots of dry stone walls (not sure whether other countries have this type of walling - let me know)

It also shows the way I made it down from a very high hill - nettles and all!

Arrived back from a wonderful week in the Peak District. The weather was mixed but in the main we had more good weather than bad. We stayed in a pretty little cottage in the village of Hathersage (more about that later!)

The scenery in the Peak District is stunning, but if you do not like hills then it is not for you. Everywhere you walk is up hill or down hill - there appears to be no flat ground anywhere. One of the most incredible sights we saw was this one above. We were driving down a very steep hill when we spied a herd of cows all standing right on top of a hill which was just below us. They were all pushing a shoving to get prime spot right at the top. Fortunately there was a place to pull over to take a shot of this bizarre scene. Phill decided to go into the field to get a better shot. There was a stile giving access so over he went. I thought I would join him and was just half way clambering over the stile when I heard shouts of "GET OUT OF THE WAY"! MOVE! "GET BACK OVER QUICKLY!" I turned round (remember one leg is in the air getting ready to step down off the stile) and to my horror saw Phill being chased by the entire herd! Do you know I really hadn't realised how quickly I can bound over a stile when I put my mind to it - lol

I will be catching up with you all slowly:-)

These are scenes from a walk we took on our first day. It was 10 miles long and quite a hike as to start with it was all uphill. When we were nearing the top I was just beginning to think how noble I felt when we were passed by a bunch of runners! Runners?!?! And if that wasn't enough we then came across some mountain bikers who were cycling like mad across the rocks - Good lord what are these people taking, I ask myself? Then once at the top we found it was a popular place for climbers. Being the weekend there were quite a few climbers out there.

.......to need your mum.

Thought I would give you an update and a smile:-)

Mum is still in hospital but doing well. We drove down to see her yesterday. She still needs the tubes to feed her oxygen and her heart rate is still way too fast. The problem is that because her heart is damaged, it is having too work faster than it should to get the oxygen supply around her body. That being said, she is sitting up out of bed and very alert and bright. Her bed is by the window which overlooks the bus stop at the hospital and she is able to look out and watch all the coming and goings of the visitors! She also loves doing word puzzles so we have supplied her with a few puzzle books to keep her occupied. It's very difficult when your mind is so active and your body betrays you. The doctor will visit tomorrow and hopefully he will be able to let her know what the way forward is.

Apart from that I helped Phill photograph his best friend's daughter's wedding on Saturday. So it has been a hectic weekend. Today we have a public holiday and I have spent the day catching up on household chores. Hopefully, I will be able to catch up with you all soon xx

And thank you so much for all your kind words and thoughts
