This is Leo. We had the pleasure of his company for 16 years. This was taken when he was about 9 months old. We were living in Bristol at the time (30 years ago!!) Phill and I were coming home one night, it was pouring with rain and we found two kittens huddled together on a step of a derelict building. They looked like drowned rats. We took them in "just for the night" and they remained with us for the next 16 years. They were feral cats and whereas Leo's brother Bunny became a loving lap cat, Leo never quite lost his wildness. He was a 'ten house' cat, visiting everyone in the neighbourhood for food. He only ever came home when he needed the vet which was frequently. He was run over (broken pelvis), tail broken, two abcesses, two tumours (both benign and host of other calamaties. He was a complete glutton and would eat so quickly he would throw up. I can remember looking out of our window one day just to see him climbing into a removal truck across the road. I decided to put a metal name tag on him (he chewed it off - really!!). When we moved to Southampton we couldn't take the cats with us immediately. My sister who also lived in Bristol at the time said she would look after them. After a couple of days she rang to say Leo had disapppeared. There was no sign off him. Three days later a neighbour from where we had been living rang my sister to say that Leo had turned up. He had walked the 3 miles across a busy city back to our old flat.

When he became ill with kidney problems we were treating him with medicine, but one day he just disappeared and never came back. His 'brother' Bunny would sit on the back of the sofa and howl constantly after this. Then about a year later Bunny became ill. Phill was sitting in the garden one day when he saw Bunny go through the hedge. He looked back at Phill and then disappeared - never to return. It is said that cats sometimes go off to die and I think this may be true of feral cats. I will always believe that Bunny and Leo chose their own time to leave us.

On Saturday night we are going to Phill's best friend's 60th birthday party, so we will be seeing lots of old friends.

The forecast is sun and blue skies - yipee!

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Have a lovely weekend x

And here is Bunny who just loved sleeping with us. He would snuggle between us under the sheets. I used to love sitting at the kitchen table reading the sunday papers. Bunny would always join me, by wrapping himself around my shoulders and peer down at the paper. For an ex feral cat he was such a softie. This one must have been taken a very long time ago as Phill's hair is still dark - lol

And his wilder brother Leo

Driving out of Dhaka saw this terrific family who kindly posed for me.
Incredible how we take such simple things like running a tap for granted.
