The chokecherry plant on my balcony is still in full bloom and I’m particularly happy to see it thriving because it’s a travel souvenir from the Great Plains. I brought a few chokecherry seeds home with me and one of them has grown into an impressive plant (don’t worry, I haven’t introduced any new species, chokecherries are already growing in several botanical gardens in Germany, and also my plant is in a big planter on my balcony and doesn’t spread anywhere). It’s most beautiful during spring when it’s all covered in little white flowers, and thanks to its original habitat I don’t have to worry about the flowers being damaged by wind or freezing temperatures. So far this plant has been absolutely unimpressed by everything our weather here has come up with.
