East side of the valley on a walk to Blaengarw. The old tramway can be seen on the mountain ahead. Makes for a nice easy walk with great views once you get to it!

Old mining levels in the Garw Valley near Blaengarw. The path just below is an old tramway which makes for a nice easy walk around this mountain to Cwm Nant-Hir and the site of the old Ocean (Garw) colliery.

This is part of a 5 mile walk outlined in a Bridgend County Council leaflet "Garw Valley Walk 1". I would highly recommend it. The leaflets can be obtained from the Garw Valley Rangers hut in the Calon Lan carpark (Railway Terrace, Blaengarw), Bridgend (Tourist Info Centre at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet) or Porthcawl (John Street). There is also a "Garw Valley Walk 2" which is on the other side of the valley.

On the side of the valley over looking Pontycymmer and Blaengarw. Makes for easy and very rewarding (view wise) walking. The old mine levels can be seen in the distance. The bracken makes for great colours in the late afternmoon sun.
