I was talking about the cemeteries in New Orleans last night, and it made me dig up this old scan from my last trip down to Nawlins. This is Marie Leveaux, the Queen of Voodoo's grave. People leave gifts in front of the grave, turn around a few times, and make a wish. I'm not superstitious, but I thought I'd give it a try, so I left her a free steak coupon from Las Vegas that I had in my wallet. I turned around a couple times and wished that the Arkansas Razorback basketball team would win their game against LSU. Well, I think that the Voodoo Queen was either a vegetarian or an LSU fan because the Razorbacks got the crap kicked out of them later that day in the SEC Basketball Tournament. As a photojournalist covering the Razorbacks for a newspaper in Arkansas, we had to go home the next day, and I was sad about it. New Orleans has always been my favorite city in the South.
