I love shooting weather phenomena. I call this one Yin and Yang, nature's wrath and beauty all in one single, non-composite shot, as the sun was setting in Prescott, AZ, and a rather sudden wild storm blew through. The setting sun illuminated the shelf cloud to an almost golden hue. It started as such a strange, small, isolated storm cell that at first, all I saw was one small thunderhead and some lightning in the distance. I didn't know exactly which path the cloud was going to take, but I had been wishing for years for a shot not even as dramatic as this, at this very location, but thought that monsoon storm season in Arizona was over for the year, as it was already October. I was so thrilled to have been at the right place at the right time, and just in the nick of time!

Sunset from the south rim of the Chisos Mountains. Still one of the cooler places I've backpacked to, the view from here is endless as you gaze across the border into the mountains of Mexico.
