I have been coming to the beautiful little town of Padstow in North Cornwall since long before chef Rick Stein had made his name, and despite the commercialisation the town still retains much of its charm. I'm not a great fan of the pontoons that have been placed in the harbour, but these now seem to have been installed in harbours throughout the south-west of England, presumably in an attempt to increase revenue from the many sailors who now moor their boats in this region. Padstow sits on the edge of the beautiful Camel Estuary, a mile or two from the sea.

Padstow is a beautiful little town on the side of the Camel Estuary in the north of Cornwall. It was already a bustling little port of fishermen and boat-builders in the time of Queen Elizabeth I but now in the summer months it becomes packed with visitors. The town has featured prominently in TV programmes about the chef Rick Stein, whose Seafood Restaurant is near the harbour. He also owns many other outlets in the town. I'm quite a fan of his, but it is said that some of the locals are not so keen.

The small village of Rock sits opposite Padstow across the Camel estuary in North Cornwall. The ferry provides a link between the two, though it has to make a detour when the tide is out and large sandbanks are revealed in the middle of the river.

Padstow is a delightful little town on the western side of the beautiful Camel estuary in North Cornwall, a mile or so from the sea. The inner harbour is very picturesque, while the outer harbour is very much the working part. Although the town receives most of its income from the tourist trade there is still a small fishing fleet that operates from here.

Padstow in the north of Cornwall is a delightful small town with an inner and outer harbour that sits on the edge of the beautiful Camel Estuary, a mile or two from the sea. Made famous by the TV programmes featuring the chef Rick Stein, the town is now more attractive than ever to visitors. Across the other side of the estuary can be seen the beautiful village of Rock, which was a well-known holiday venue for well-healed young people from the smarter parts of London, though I gather they now prefer Polzeath.
