We're looking after little four-year-old granddaughter Ava today, and there's nothing she likes more than making some cakes. Of course, our little Yorkie puppy decided to help her.

I normally keep my personal pictures to Facebook, but I just couldn't resist posting this shot of me with our eight-week-old Yorkshire Terrier puppy, which we've named Evie (after a lovely old aunt of mine). Judy took the shot with her iPhone, but I claim the credit as director!! :-)

I popped round to see my little granddaughter, Ava, today and was amazed at how much she has grown in the last few weeks. Virtually every time I've been round to see my son and his wife the baby has been tucked up in bed, but today I got to hold her for a few minutes. She is now just over six months old and is the proud possessor of two teeth with others on the way, though she was determined not to show them. My son Mike took the picture to dad's instructions and did his best to get Ava to smile. But she wasn't having it.

Over the years I must have had dozens of cream teas - a Cornish speciality. Yet this one at Mount Edgcumbe in the far south-east of Cornwall just has to be the best one ever, and at a very reasonable price. Everything is home-made on the premises apart from the Cornish cream itself, and you get a vast helping. I first came here with some friends in early October, and decided to come back with Judy on our latest visit to make sure it wasn't just a one-off. It was exactly the same. The Orangery in Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is just a couple of minutes' walk from the Cremyll Ferry. I rarely put Facebook-type pictures on Flickr, but this place deserves more business!

Although the weather during our latest trip to Cornwall was very rough, wet and windy we did manage to find one nice day when we drove along the coast to Kingsand. This beautiful little village is on the Rame Peninsula, overlooking Plymouth Sound. The Devonport Inn is on the seafront, and provided a welcome port of call. Both Judy and our little Yorkie puppy were well wrapped up against the cold.
