The small town of Eyemouth in Berwickshire has been a fishing port since the 13th century. It remains a busy working harbour with a number of boats regularly fishing out of it. There is also a busy boatyard, which can be seen in the rear of the picture, on the right.

The Royal Mile leads from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace, and is a very attractive and distinguished busy thoroughfare with numerous beautiful buildings, including St Giles' Cathedral. It runs parallel to Princes Street, which is on the north side of Princes Street Gardens and the main railway line leading into Waverley Station. Judy and I had a very pleasant lunch in one of the numerous little restaurants along the Royal Mile. This shot was taken with Judy's i-Phone.

St Abb's Head is a rocky promontory by the village of St Abbs in Berwickshire, Scotland, and a National Nature Reserve administered by the National Trust of Scotland.

The Head was designated an NNR because of the presence of a 60,000 strong seabird colony which nest on the sheer cliffs, stacks and gullies. Kittiwakes and guillemots are the most numerous species of the nesting birds followed by razorbills, shags, herring gulls, fulmars and puffins. To preserve the marine habitat, the NTS in conjunction with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the local fishing community and diving clubs, have set up a Voluntary Marine Reserve which stretches south down the coast to the town of Eyemouth. Although best known for its seabirds, the reserve also has flower rich grasslands and a freshwater loch.

The countryside in south-east Scotland is very attractive with the main inland feature being the Lammermuir Hills. These cover parts of East Lothian and the Scottish Borders. This shot was taken near the Whiteadder Reservoir in the middle of the Lammermuirs. The river that flows from the reservoir to the Tweed, which it joins just outside Berwick, is known as Whiteadder Water.

We visited Scotland for a week in October and stayed just to the south of Dunbar on the south-east coast of East Lothian. Edinburgh is about 35 miles away. In this area two landmarks can be seen for miles around - a cement factory just south of Dunbar, and the Torness nuclear power station, which was built despite widespread public opposition. It was completed in 1988, can produce electricity for two million homes and is of the AGR design. In the far distance is the Firth of Forth with Bass Rock on the right.
