I spotted this pony and her foal near Norsworthy Bridge at the north-eastern end of Burrator Reservoir in the south-west of Dartmoor. There is a popular car park nearby, and the ponies have learned that this is a place to come to if they want any treats. However, I think this mother and her foal had had enough and simply wanted a quiet place to rest and relax. I didn't go too close.

We have three or four playful squirrels who live in the woods near our holiday home in North Lancashire, and frequently pay us a visit. They like to run along the handrail to our decking, and one of them even plucks up the courage to peer through the glass in the door. Judy can't resist leaving biscuits out for them, so they know where there's a soft touch.

We live in a 17th century farm cottage in a little village in Northamptonshire. Like most old cottages, the garden is at the front and in our case the farmyard is at the back. Bob the Bull managed to be conceived at the wrong time of year and so was unable to go to market with the others. The farmer, David, became fond of him and decided to keep him at the farm. During the winter his quarters are behind our cottage and during the rest of the year he grazes in the pasture. Bob's great treat is to be fed cabbage leaves, but on this occasion I'm afraid I had to disappoint him.

This stream is just a short distance from the Ribblehead Viaduct, which is out of shot to the left. One of the sources of the River Ribble, the stream initially flows into Blind Beck which then joins others, becoming the River Ribble and flowing south down Ribblesdale towards Settle. It is the only major river rising in Yorkshire which flows westward. It also flows through Clitheroe, Ribchester and Preston before emptying into the Irish Sea between Lytham St. Annes and Southport, a length of 75 miles.

i know that several of my Flickr friends are very fond of horses and other animals, so this is for them.
The dark skies started to clear after lunch a few days ago and I decided to get my camera and go out for a drive. I then called into the pretty little village of Lowick to have a look round. I wandered along Mill Lane in the hopes of perhaps finding an old watermill at the end of it. That didn't work out, but several friendly horses in the adjacent field were curious as to who I was, and eventually wandered over one by one to have a look.
