User / Baz Richardson - often away / Rapids on the River Meavy, Dartmoor
Baz Richardson / 12,071 items
The Rivers Plym and Meavy tumble through a series of rapids on the south-west side of Dartmoor before joining together near Shaugh Prior. The enlarged River Plym then descends though a valley to the sea at the Plymouth. This is on the National Trust's Goodameavy Estate, which is a few miles to the north of Plymouth. This area was once heavily industrialised with tin and copper mines, quarries and china clay workings, and the remains are all around.
