It looks as if I had taken the picture in the dead of winter, right? In fact, I have seen this winter scene one morning in April 1998 in Boulder, USA. At that time I visited my daughter who was there for an au pair year.
Looking through my old negatives I found this winter image and some others which I made with my Minolta SLR and just scan. It is certainly one photo or another which I will share with you ;-).

Es sieht aus als ob ich das Bild im tiefsten Winter aufgenommen hätte, nicht wahr? Tatsächlich habe ich diese Winterszene einen Morgen im April 1998 in Boulder, USA erlebt. Ich habe damals meine Tochter besucht, die für ein Au-Pair Jahr dort war.
Bei Durchsicht meiner alten Fotonegative fand ich dieses Winterbild und einige andere mehr, die ich mit meiner Minolta Spiegelreflex gemacht habe und gerade einscanne. Es ist sicher noch das eine oder andere dabei was ich euch zeigen werde ;-).

This winter photo was taken in my old hometown in Northern Germany during a walk round the lake Bergsee with my former Minolta SLR in December 1998.
In the gently curved ridge of the Damme Hills the wooded rolling hills and valleys alternate with meadows, fields and pastureland. There are numerous paths for cyclists and hikers to enjoy the natural environment.
The lake known as Dammer Bergsee, roughly 25 ha in area, provides a refuge for rare animals and plants, which are described by means of a nature trail. Many endangered species of plant occur in this area: Of the hitherto 364 vascular plants, 68 species are on Lower Saxony's Red List of endangered types. One particularly notable group of animals are the reptiles, of which 4 species occur here: the grass snake, sand lizard, viviparous lizard and slow worm. From the bird world there are 5 species of woodpecker as well as woodcock, crossbill and pied flycatcher. In 1974 even rollers bred in this wooded area, but were later shot by a farmer. Three of Germany's largest native beetles live here: the stag beetle, rhinoceros beetle and cockchafer.

Dieses Winterfoto habe ich in meiner alten Heimat bei einem Spaziergang um den Dammer Bergsee in Norddeutschland mit meiner Minolta Spiegelreflex im Dezember 1998 aufgenommen. Ich habe nur 10 Minuten Fußweg entfernt gewohnt.
Der Dammer Bergsee ist ein See und ein Naturschutzgebiet bei der Stadt Damme im niedersächsischen Landkreis Vechta.
Der See selbst, der nördlich vom Stadtgebiet von Damme liegt, ist ca. 700 m lang und ca. 560 m breit.
Das 1,05 km² große Schutzgebiet steht seit 1995 unter Naturschutz. Es liegt im Höhenzug Dammer Berge und ist Teil des FFH-Gebietes 317 "Dammer Berge".
Für den Schutz gefährdeter Pflanzenarten ist es vor allem wegen der Überreste des in den 1960er Jahren aufgegebenen Dammer Eisenerzbergbaus besonders wertvoll. Am Rande von künstlichen Stillgewässern, die der Erzwäsche dienten, auf Spülfeldern und einer Bergehalde haben sich aufgrund der extremen Standortverhältnisse sehr viele seltene Pflanzen angesiedelt, darunter etliche Orchideenarten. Dieses Panorama konnte ich ganz in der Nähe bewundern wo meine Tochter 1998 das Au-Pair Jahr machte. Im Hintergrund sind die Rocky Mountains zu sehen.
Auch dieses Aufnahme entstand mit meiner früheren Minolta Spiegelreflex.
Boulder (englisch für Felsblock) ist eine Stadt im Boulder County im US-Bundesstaat Colorado, Vereinigte Staaten, an den Ausläufern der Rocky Mountains. Boulder liegt etwa 45 km nordwestlich von Denver.
Boulder ist die größte Stadt im County und die achtgrößte Stadt in Colorado. Die University of Colorado at Boulder ist die bedeutendste Universität des Universitätensystems von Colorado. Fast ein Drittel der Einwohner Boulders sind Studenten – dies prägt die Atmosphäre der Stadt, die als liberal gilt. Das Bildungsniveau der Einwohner ist überdurchschnittlich hoch.
Aufgrund seiner Höhenlage von über 1600 m und seines trockenen Hochgebirgsklimas mit fast 300 Tagen Sonnenschein im Jahr wird es gerne als Trainingsort für Ausdauerathleten genutzt. Möglichkeiten zu Wintersportaktivitäten sind vielfältig vorhanden. (Quelle: Wikipedia)

My third Flickr Birthday
Although I am being already a flickr member since 2007, I am actually activ here since June 2008.
In November 2007 my intention was to show my artwork, therefore my membername Batik(-)art. During the late spring in 2008 I came back, because of a friend, and took a second look. I saw all those fantastic photos and nothing could hold me up to share my photos with you. You help me a lot to learn more about taking photos and give me a lot of inspirations!
Your feedback on my photos is very important to me and I want to thank you all very much for more than 1.3 million views of my photos, more than 100,000 views of my stream, the countless comments I appreciate very much and always love to read, and not least the many faves! Thank you for taking time to look at my photos and comment!
I shot the elephant at the zoo in Denver last year, I liked his camera pose. Since the background was not very nice, I've decided on my first cropped version. I hope you like it!

Mein dritter Flickr Geburtstag
Obwohl ich bereits seit November 2007 Flickr Mitglied bin, begann meine Flickr-Aktivität erst im Juni 2008.
Zuerst wollte ich hier nur meine Batik-(Kunst)-Art, daher auch mein Mitgliedsname, vorstellen. Als mich im späten Frühjahr in 2008 ein Freund wieder herlockte, warf ich einen zweiten tieferen Blick in Flickr. Ich war fasziniert von den vielen fantastischen Fotos und nichts konnte mich mehr halten, meine Fotos mit euch zu teilen. Dank eurer Tips und Anregungen habe ich inzwischen schon viel dazu lernen können und sehr viele Anregungen bekommen!
Euer Feedback auf meine Fotos ist mir sehr wichtig und ich möchte ich euch allen ganz herzlich für mehr als 1,3 Millionen Aufrufe meiner Fotos, mehr als 100.000 Aufrufe meines Streams, die unzähligen Kommentare, die ich sehr schätze und immer wieder sehr gerne lese, und nicht zuletzt die vielen Faves danken!
Den Elefant habe ich letztes Jahr in Zoo in Denver fotografiert, seine Kamera Pose gefiel mir. Da der Hintergrund allerdings nicht sehr schön war, habe ich mich zu meinem ersten freigestellten Bild entschlossen. Ich hoffe, es gefällt euch!
