Nicht mehr lang in Betrieb sein wird wahrscheinlich die alte Strecke durch das Othrys-Gebirge in Mittelgriechenland, die Inbetriebnahme der Neubaustrecke ist noch für dieses Jahr geplant. 220 027 ist hier mit einem IC nach Thessaloniki auf dem Viadukt bei Karya zu sehen.

Not long in use anymore will be the old moutain line through the Othrys range in Central Greece, replacement with a new line is planned already for this year. 220 027 is seen here with an IC towards Thessaloniki crossing the viaduct at Karya.

220 007 hat mit einem IC nach Athen den Anstieg zum Bralos-Pass in Angriff genommen und überquert die große Brücke von Gorgopotamos. Im Hintergrund sind die weißen Häuser von Lamia und die Berge des Othrys, die der Zug eine Stunde zuvor durchquert hat.

220 007 has started the ascent to Bralos pass with an IC towards Athens and crosses the large bridge at Gorgopotamos. In the backdrop are the white houses of Lamia and the Othrys mountains, which have been passed by the train one our before.

Hinauf zum Bralospass geht es für 220 029 mit ihrem IC nach Athen. Mit den teils noch vorhandenen Telegrafenmasten und zahlreichen Sicherungsanlagen aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg hatte die spektakuläre Bergstrecke in Mittelgriechenland bis zum Schluss den Charme vergangener Tage.

Up towards Bralos Pass climbs 220 029 with an IC to Athens. With telegraph poles and fortifications from Second World War the spectacular mountain line in central Greece had much left from past days until its end.

Bespannt von gleich zwei Loks der Baureihe 220 überquert ein IC von Athen nach Thessaloniki die Papadia-Brücke bei Eleftherochori. Der Zug hat gerade den Scheitel des Bralos-Pass überquert und rollt nun durch die spektakuläre Asoposschlucht hinab nach Lianokladi.

Headed by two class 220 engines an IC from Athens to Thessaloniki crosses the Papadia bridge at Eleftherochori. The train has just passed the summit of Bralos pass and will now roll down to the station of Lianokladi through the spectacular Asopos gorge.

Vor ein paar Minuten hat 460 029 den Bahnhof von Chalkida verlassen und folgt nun auf seiner Fahrt nach Athen für ein paar Kilometer der Küste. Im Hintergrund sind noch die weißen Häuser der an einer schmalen Meerenge gelegenen Stadt und die Berge die Insel Euböa zu sehen.

460 029 has left the station of Chalkida some minutes ago and will now follow the seashore for some kilometers on its way to Athens. In the backdrop are the white buildings of the town and the mountains of Euboea island.
