An awestruck moment spotting our home shed Krishnarajapuram (KJM) WDG3A 13298 with a partially loaded Ro-Ro (Roll On - Roll Off Truck Carrier) chugging over the double arched Zuari river Bridge, heading towards Verna on a overcast noon. Note the Brake van over the extreme right end of the Bridge. — in Cortalim, Goa, India.

A pair of ALCO WDG3As have the lowly task of powering a wire inspection train which is seen here crossing the Bhima bridge in Igatpuri. Not long ago these six axle 251 powered beasts could be found at the head of freight or passenger trains. Today the ranks are quickly thinning due to rapid electrification, and the senseless purchase of new GE diesels despite plans for full electrification. The two locomotives are now assigned to Kurla shed, a Mumbai shed that homes only locomotives for inferior tasks such as shunting. A sad fate but better than that of many similar locos awaiting the torch. This would be one of my few ALCO encounters of the trip.
