My first home computer, the Video Genie System, circa 1982 or 1983.

This computer was a clone of the more famous Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I.

It came with 16 Kb of RAM, about 12 Kb of ROM (I think). The video circuitry had 1 Kb of RAM. The mass storage was a built-in audio cassette player/recorder (as seen on the right) with a tape counter to help somewhat with direct access on the tape.

Later I added a memory extension (48 Kb total) and a double diskette drive (5 inch floppy diskettes with 100 Kb capacity each).

My preferred operating system was something called QDOS (I think).

I still work in IT now and use computers all day long. I'm amazed at the progress this technology went through.

On the left side, the empty box of Agfapan 400 that I had just loaded in my AE-1 to take this shot.
