Vancouver gears up for 2018 cruise ship season

In Vancouver, there are certain things that mark the changing of the seasons — and even if the seasons don’t change, you can still be sure that cruise ships will appear at the city’s waterfront in early spring.

“We always look forward to the start of the cruise season, and are thrilled this year to welcome even more visitors to our cruise terminal at Canada Place,” said Robin Silvester, president and chief executive officer of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

The 2018 cruise ship season begins on Tuesday with the arrival of the Star Princess en route to Hawaii, and it’ll be the first hint of what’s forecast to be a record year of cruise ship tourism, the highest since 2010.
