Our resident pair of geese are standing on the frosty bank of the lake in front of our vacation log home on Bluebird Estates, Alberta, Canada. Love the reflection in the water of the pastel hues of the sunrise.
The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) is a wild goose belonging to the genus Branta, which is native to arctic and temperate regions of North America, having a black head and neck, white patches on the face, and a brownish-gray body. When I heard the geese landing on the lake I rushed to the window in time to watch this incredible battle for territory, during the crucial nesting period, between the resident pair of geese and an "invading" pair!
