User / Arthur Anker / Ovipositing behaviour of a female dragonfly (Orthemis sp), Panama
Art / 14,600 items
female Orthemis sp.; she is flicking her eggs onto the shore in water droplets, so egg-eating fish won't get them; when they hatch, the tiny prolarva flips into the water and immediately molts into the first larval stage; larvae have a chance to avoid predation, eggs don't.
