Even as the storm was coming in he continued with his fishing.
I was lucky as I broke into a run after taking this shot and managed to prevent my precious camera and equipment from getting drenched. Hope he managed some shelter too.
This is the cliff opposite the famous Tanah Lot temple.

Found this man selling coconuts in the middle of the gorgeous rice terraces at Ceking near Ubud on the island of Bali.
While there was plently of landscape and brilliant green (some of which you can seen in the background) to shoot around, somehow he added character to the place.

The Wayang Kulit (leather puppet) show is one of the masterpieces of Javanese performance arts. It is an art that is five centuries old. You can watch it from any angle of the stage, including backstage!
Since there was no translation, I spent more time walking around the stage (without disturbing anyone of course) observing it from different angles … and shooting.
What you see in this frame are the profiles of the female singers called ‘sinden’ who sing Javanese songs as the background score. This was taken from the front view of the stage, but is actually a view of the side wings (which are usually covered). There was a 6 inch opening at this performance, which is in the foreground. Peeking through it, you get a good glimpse of the backstage without actually being there.
Taken at 200mm f/5.6, 0.8s handheld – because there was no other way to pull this one off. :-)

Had a fantastic Sunday shoot with Umesh at the old Sunda Kelapa port in North Jakarta. This is one of those few places that have not yet been hit by tourists. Most of the people there are the local fisherman or those working on the Phinisi ships. There is no entry ticket and you are free to have a wander wherever you want to (even on the ships!). The port has apparently been around since the 5th century - would love to go back sometime and shoot it at dawn.
