Our Lady of the Rocks is one of the two islands in Bay of Kotor. It is an artificial island with a Roman Catholic church and a navigation light at the western end. The first known church was built on the island in 1452.
Legend says that in 1452 residents of Perast, the brothers and sailors Morteshich found a icon of the Virgin on the reef near the island of St. George. The icon was honoured, it was attributed to many miracles. People began to sink their old and captured pirate ships on the reef . According to the adopted law all passing ships had to throw stones here.
After 200 years a artificial island was formed, it is the only man-made island in the Adriatic Sea. In 1630 the Venetians built a Roman Catholic church here. Officially the island belongs to the town of Perast.

Two islands in Bay of Kotor, it is “Europe’s southernmost fjord”. Our Lady of the Rocks on the left and St George's Island in the middle of the shot.

Gospa Lighthouse is a black and white, 6 m (20ft) tall post light mounted on a square concrete pedestal. It is a active light. Located on the east side of the northern entrance to the Verige Strait.

Turski Lighthouse built in 1910, is a 8 m (26ft) tall conical cast iron tower, painted white. It is a active light. On the west side of the northern entrance to the Verige Strait. It has appeared on a postage stamp.
