PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks.

I am taking the next two months off of Flickr (I am here for 1 more days but not posting). I have many things that have to be done before I leave for three weeks. On returning I then have to get some pictures ready to put on Flickr and make my book (Blurb).

When I travel I do not go near computers at all so I will not be making contact once I leave but I do look forward to sharing my trip when I get back.

I wish you all the best and hope you are all still here when I return. Just remember to have a great day, everyday and keep smiling.

The church was built in 1732 and is near the Catherine Palace in the town of Pushkin. It is the earliest surviving church in Tsarskoe Selo (Tsar's Village) and was frequently used by the Romanovs. Empress Elizabeth had her fatal heart attack here during liturgy and was layed out on the grass in front of the church. After the revolution the church was closed and turned into offices. During World War II the church was in the midst of heavy fighting. The Nazis allowed the people to reopen the church but the building was heavily damaged by shelling. The building was not restored until 1962.

The palace was the summer residence of the Russian tsars, located in the town of Pushkin, 25 km south-east of St. Petersburg, Russia.

The residence originated in 1717, when Catherine I of Russia constructed a summer palace for her pleasure. In 1733, Empress Anna expanded the palace. Empress Elizabeth, however, found her mother's residence outdated and in May 1752 had the old structure demolished and replaced it with a much grander edifice in a Rococo style. Construction lasted for four years and on 30 July 1756 the brand-new 325-meter-long palace was opened.
