Had to go to Texas to chase this lifer! My maiden voyage to Texas was a birding mecca! This was shot at South Padre Island World Birding Center. I look forward to posting otter treasures from my trip. Usually one gets "three wishes", however, I got twenty -nine life birds in one day! I love Texas and Texas migrants!

what a beauty and a lifer! This woodpecker reminds me of our red-bellied woodpecker.

This image is from a boating excursion with a few other photographers between Fulton and Rockport Texas. Ususally the captain of the boat would be ferrying his passengers to view endangered whooping cranes at their remaining rookery, but they had recently migrated North… Instead, I was in the company of colonial nesting birds flying in and flying out throughout the morning on a very small island. There were many lovely sticks that any girl would swoon over! However, this great egret made his arrival without the usual amorous gift… He didn't stay long and soon would return with another stick for the mrs.!
