Sunday, 26 June 2022: our temperature is 23°C (windchill 23°C) at 6:30 pm. Sunrise was at 5:23 am, and sunset is at 9:54 pm. Sunny day.

Yesterday, 25 June 2022, I was able to spend a few enjoyable hours driving the same old roads W and SW of Calgary. I think I could drive these roads blindfolded by now! It is just so much quicker and easier to reach the countryside from the south of the city and when I only have half a day, that is the area I usually go to.

After all the endless rain we've been getting recently, with more to come according to the weather forecast, I thought I had better make the most of the sunshine. Unfortunately, most of the photos I took turned out blown-out from the brightness. Note to self: don't wait for a sunny day to go out with my camera!

I enjoyed watching the birds more than most of my photos might suggest. Saw all the usual ones, including Mountain Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, Red-winged Blackbirds and so on. I thought I was out of luck seeing a Wilson's Snipe, but was happy to find one on the way home. Happy to see the very distant Common Loon that I have seen before and, when I decided it was time to return home, I noticed a little spot of yellow on a fence. So glad that an American Goldfinch male happened to appear, as I rarely see them.

Typing this description with a splitting migraine headache. I very rarely get migraine these days, unlike years ago, and not sure what triggered this one. Hope it has cleared up by very early tomorrow morning, as I have to move my car from the parking lot by 7:30 am at the latest. Time for the parking lot spring cleaning, and I don't have a street parking spot. That means I will have to go for a drive for a few hours. The forecast for the area I will probably go to is forecast to be 27C, so I will be very thankful to be in my car's air-conditioning.
