Wednesday, 11 May 2022: our temperature is 13°C (windchill 13°C) at 6:00 pm. Sunrise was at 5:52 am, and sunset is at 9:13 pm. Sunny in morning and overcast in afternoon.
Yesterday, 10 May 2022, I joined several birding friends for a morning walk in Fish Creek Park. Unfortunately, the light was just awful and anything I looked at was more or less a black silhouette. That is, until we were walking back to the meeting place, when the sun finally came out. At least the Red-winged Blackbird was in the sun. Managed to rescue a few photos of several other species.
As always, it was good to see several Ospreys, having returned after the winter and ready making nests. We saw one of them carrying a stick back to the nest. It also joined the female who was already resting on the nest. These are such impressive birds. We walked on the far side of the road while passing the nest, not wanting to add any more stress. So much noisy activity in the immediate area, though, yet the Ospreys still nest there.
I don't think I have been on a long drive since March 2022, and had planned to go tomorrow. However, I now have to cancel that idea, as someone is coming to install a new kitchen sink garburator, to replace my old one that has been leaking, I suspect for quite awhile. Important to get done, but I WILL get out for a long drive eventually, lol.
