Monday, 25 October 2021: our temperature is 12C (windchill 10C) just before 4:00 pm. Sunrise is at 8:16 am, and sunset is at 6:23 pm. A mix of sun and cloud.

Yesterday, 24 October 2021, I made a short drive southwards to call in at the Saskatoon Farm. After a tasty lunch of Chicken Quesdilla and yam fries, and just a quick look in the greenhouse, I drove further south and then took a few familiar roads to stop and quickly photograph a couple of favourite old barns.

Looking across to the distant mountains, I could see that they were partly covered in snow. After checking the weather forecast just now, I see that mixed precipitation is mentioned for this coming Friday, 29 October. Hopefully, the rain will prevent any snow from settling. The snow is 'welcome' to fall during the first two and a half weeks of November, though, as I will be stuck at home the whole time, without a vehicle.

One special barn, that I have always loved, has recently been painted or stained - at least the side that I could see from the road. If this is to protect the wood from further weathering damage, then that is good. However, to me, the charm of this structure was partly the fact that the wood had been weathered to a light grey colour. Disappointing, mainly as far as photographing this beautiful 'oldie' is concerned.

I hadn't been for a drive since 12 October, when I drove east of the city. Too many appointments and having to stay home and wait for another call about getting my little backyard re-grassed, broke into several days. The same thing for this coming week, so I'm not sure if I will get time to go for a good drive somewhere. (until mid-November). So glad that I have endless old photos in my archives that I never had time to post.
