Just a few odds and ends from a birding walk at Mallard Pt, FCPP, on 29 August 2021. I don't usually take many photos on these walks, but I was really happy to see a Cooper's Hawk and a Woolly Bear caterpillar during the morning. People had been seeing up to three of these beautiful hawks recently.
I wasn't looking for fungi, but I was happy to spot this bright orange one, growing on a fallen log.
Warblers were a high priority because of the fall migration. As usual, I was not expecting to see any, as they are so small and fast, and hiding in a tangle of thin branches. No luck for me this time.

The Woolly Bear is the caterpillar stage of the Spotted Tussock Moth (Lophocampa maculata. I have always loved seeing this species, but it had been years since I last saw one.
