Happy Easter weekend!

Saturday, 3 April 2021: our temperature is PLUS 10C (windchill PLUS 10) just after 9:00 pm. Sunrise is at 7:05 am and sunset is at 8:13 pm. The forecast for tomorrow, Easter Sunday, is for sun-rain showers in the morning and mixed precipitation in the afternoon.

I first discovered this fine old barn in July 2019. Since then, I have often thought about it, but had never gone to try and find it again. Yesterday, 2 April 2021, I finally found the right road and was so happy to see it again.

Yesterday's drive was just a short, afternoon outing, mainly for the sake of getting out somewhere. I hadn't been for a drive in two weeks and only went on one walk. After I had the cortisone shot in my left knee, I needed to rest for a couple of days and then take it easy since then. Unfortunately, I haven't really noticed any improvement with the pain, which is so disappointing. Also, I have needed to stay home and get at least some important things done before Monday arrives (5 April 2021), when workmen come and set up scaffolding all over my building. This is ready for them to remove then reinstall all the windows and frames, and replace all the siding that was so badly installed quite a few years ago, with new siding. Repairs to leakage damage have to be also done in parts of the building. The estimated length of the time needed to complete all this has been given as 16 weeks. Somehow, I will have to try and keep myself sane for that long! Plenty of long and short drives will help, of course.

It always amazes me how rapidly snow can melt at this time of the year. All of a sudden, fields are bare and the landscape looks so dry. There have already been a few wildfires SE of the city.

So few birds were seen on this drive - a pair of American Robins that immediately flew across the road in front of my car and disappeared into the dense tangle of branches. Only one Black-billed Magpie, plus a hawk of some kind that was flying far off in the distance. Canada Geese were the most abundant species. I am always so thankful that I love finding and photographing old barns, meaning that I always go home feeling happy.
