It was just after noon before I finally left home today, 8 January 2021, having intended leaving at least two hours earlier. However, all I wanted was a short drive SE of the city. Most of the roads I travelled were familiar ones. The few new ones were a result of trying to find a little church that I had photographed a few times before - not the one in a photo posted tonight. No luck, so I will have to try another time.
I can't believe how few birds I have been seeing recently, basically just Magpies and a Raven or two. I have done so much better other years.
The old house in one of the photos I posted tonight is a favourite of mine - quite fancy with its diagonal strips. A number of years ago, I noticed a Great Horned Owl in the top window. It flew off when a Gyrfalcon, that had been perched on a nearby power pole, flew and harassed it.
