Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii (syn. C. giraldiana) (Verbenaceae)

Deze struik, die ongeveer 2 m hoog wordt, is afkomstig uit China.
Hij bloeit omstreeks augustus met lila bloempjes, die in detail wel mooi zijn maar niet erg opvallen.
De werkelijke sierwaarde zit in de paarse besjes, die in trosjes in de bladoksels staan, en ook in de bloemsierkunst wel worden gebruikt.

This bush, growing to about 2 m high, finds its origin in China.
It blooms around August with mauve little flowers, which are very pretty in detail, but seem a bit insignificant on the plant.
The purple to violet berries, in bunches in the leaves' axils, are more striking, and are also used in flower arrangements.

is een conifeer uit de taxusfamilie (Taxaceae). De plant komt van nature voor in de Benelux. De boom wordt vaak met kortweg 'taxus' aangeduid. De venijnboom komt van nature voor in Europa, het noorden van Afrika en het zuidwesten van Azië.


Taxus: de rode zaadmantels zijn zeer opvallend. Het zaad is onverteerbaar en giftig bij beschadiging!
