Took this one in Alcácer do Sal, a little town 100km south of Lisbon with more than 5.000 years of History and important cultural remains from the Phoenicians, Visigoths, Arabs, Vikings and Romans. The Castle dates back to the 6th century B.C. (Iron Age) and is set on a hilltop overlooking river Sado and a vast green valley where cork, rice and pine-nuts are produced. Under Roman occupation, played a major role in Alentejo’s economical and political life. During Visigoth ruling it became one of the strongest and most important castles in the Iberian Peninsula. It was permanently conquered to the Moors in 1217
