St Mary's church Ullenhall, built 1875 by J.P.Seddon.

From the centre of this village near the Warwickshire/Worcestershire border it appears there is nothing here to see that pre-dates the Victorian Era, however the ancient predesscor of this parish church still survives, albeit in truncated form, hidden from view up winding lanes some distance to the northeast of this church.

I've always found this church locked, and have never been inside, despite having releaded some of the glazing here for Norgrove Studios (wasn't involved in the site-work - would have made getting inside alot asier if I had been!)

St Mary's church Ullenhall, built 1875 by J.P.Seddon. This view shows the unusual treatment of the exterior of the apse with inverted arches supporting colonnettes at cill level (making the presumably rounded internal wall polygonal without)

St Mary's church Ullenhall, built 1875 by J.P.Seddon.

From the centre of this village near the Warwickshire/Worcestershire border it appears there is nothing here to see that pre-dates the Victorian Era, however the ancient predecessor of this parish church still survives, albeit in truncated form, hidden from view up winding lanes some distance to the northeast of this church.

The Victorian church is really rather charming inside, all white rendered with some interesting flourishes. The only stained glass was until recently the geometric patterns in the seven apse windows, but this has now been joined by two attractive contemporary windows recently added at the west end.

I have always found this church kept locked, and had never been inside before this trip, however making arrangements with the lovely people who lookafter this church was easy and they kindly enabled me to see inside at last.
